IOWA AUCTIONEERS ASSOCIATION CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS CONTEST RULES

CONTEST DATE: TUESDAY, AUGUST 16, 2022

PREREGISTRATION REQUIRED

EARLY REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS 5:00 PM ON AUGUST 9, 2022

  1. Contestant must be a member in good standing with the Iowa Auctioneers Association and be a past Iowa Auctioneer Champion (IAA Dues can be paid at the time of entry into the contest)
     
  2. Entry Fee is $100. If you are not a member, you may become a member at the time of entry into the contest. IAA will retain 100% of proceeds. 
     
  3. ALL contestants are required to attend a “rules” meeting at 8:00 AM before the contest begins. Draw order will take place at this meeting.
     
  4. IAA will provide items for each contestant to sell during the preliminary and final rounds. (Items will not be identical, but similar in value, scope, and style.)
     
  5. Board members not involved with the contest, and excluding the President and Vice President, are eligible to participate in the contest. Any board member participating is prohibited from mentioning their board affiliation.
     
  6. Preliminary and Finals contest are held under actual auction conditions.
     
  7. The five (5) contestants receiving the highest scores during the preliminary contest will be eligible to compete for the title in the Finals. (No interview portion). 
     
  8. If a tie would occur in the top five (5) of the Finals, the tie breaker will go back to the contestants with the highest score from the preliminary round of the contest.
     
  9. The finalists will have 3 items to sell in the finals round. There will be no questions from the judges.
     
  10. Five judges, selected by the President and Vice President, will judge the preliminary round and finals round
     
  11. Judging categories will remain the same as in the past: speed, bid calling ability, salesmanship and appearance. Business casual dress is recommended. The standard “Auctioneer Contest Score Sheet” will be used in both the preliminary and final rounds. No interview portion.
     
  12. All scores will be used during the semi finals and finals.
     
  13. Prize money will be $1,000 Champion and 2022 Iowa Champion of Champions belt buckle.
     
  14. ONLY IAA Past Champions are eligible to enter this Auctioneer Contest.
