Dr. Jeff Kaisand serves as the State Veterinarian at the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship. He joined the Department in 2013 and served as the Assistant State Veterinarian for six years before he was appointed the State Vet. Dr. Kaisand works with federal, state and industry partners to protect the health of Iowa’s livestock industry and develop foreign animal disease response plans; he was an integral part of the state’s response during the Avian Influenza outbreak in 2015. Dr. Kaisand earned his bachelor’s degree in Animal Science at Iowa State University in 1989 and graduated from the Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1993.
