Erik Hoegemeyer is the Assistant Professor of Agribusiness and Economics at Midland University in Fremont, Nebraska. He is also a licensed Series 3 and 30 commodity broker and a partner in Maple Creek Bookkeeping & Consulting, which specializes in Farm Financial decision making. In addition, he performs various consulting and speaking engagements, specializing in agricultural economics, geopolitics, and geoeconomics.
Erik is originally from Hooper, Nebraska, where his family settled in the early 1870s. He grew up in his family’s seed business, Hoegemeyer Hybrids, founded in 1937. He attended the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and graduated in Agricultural Economics in 1999. He has also been awarded a Master of Business Administration from Creighton University and a Master of Legal Studies from the Gould School of Law at the University of Southern California. In addition, he is currently finalizing his doctoral studies in International Business at Liberty University.
Before entering academics, he worked in various trading, financial, and executive positions throughout the Commodity Trading and Brokerage Industries. He has been married to Kari for 22 years and has four children: Elisabeth, 18, Andrew, 17, Phillip, 15, and Joseph, 13.
